Screencode

Privacy Policy

General Information

The Screencode application has been produced and published by the Rollerbush developer collective and provides a way to visually transfer files and text from one device to another, only utilizing a screen and camera. No network or other radio connectivity like bluetooth, wifi, nfc etc. is required.

When sharing content, the sending device reads a file or text and splits that data into a set of frames of pixel patterns in an animation played on screen. A receiving device launches the app which opens up the camera. The camera then parses any pixel patterns identified and tries to put the original content back together as the animation is played on the sending screen.

Information Collection and Use

The core Screencode app does not collect, use, read, store or share any personal or sensitive information. Your files remain yours only and are never sent anywhere - except when you share them via your screen. Camera images are never stored and not used for any other purpose than to extract content embedded in the pixel patterns produced by this app.

However, please note that the ad service Google AdMob may be used to help monetize the app. AdMob utilizes an identifier on your device to deliver ads. You can opt out of interest based advertising by checking the privacy settings for ads on your device and selecting "Opt out of Ads Personalization". Google's services for understanding crashes (Crashlytics) and measuring performance (Analytics) may also be used to help improve the overall experience in this app.
